LOCATION: Upper West Side, NYC

I love the word "serendipity." It means, when you go looking for one thing and find something else -- usually better than what you were looking for in the first place.

Some of my favorite photos have happened that way. In this case, I rented a studio just for the day, to shoot some portraits in a new environment -- a dance studio with lots of available sunlight, wooden floors, and big mirrors -- and while those portrait shots turned out very well, I was even happier with some wintery images I captured outside the window, including this one.
